joy-pageAbout Joy Roberts

Joy is a runner, a foodie, and a mama of two teen boys. A former over-committer and people-pleaser, Joy is learning to embrace the freedom found in saying “no”. Joy spent the first two decades of her life avoiding relationships with other women. Since that time, the Lord has been walking Joy through years of restoration and redemption to heal those relational pains from the past. What she once avoided, she now pursues.

She is passionate about living each day full of joy. A joy that is readily available regardless of the circumstances she encounters.

In her free time, Joy loves spending time with her husband and family. It is not uncommon to find her nose in a book as she works to complete her graduate degree in Biblical Theology from Western Seminary.

For the Joy of It

What motivates you to do what you do? When life is hard and circumstances are challenging we find ourselves asking questions like “why do I stay in this marriage, why should I be an involved parent, why should I do this job, why do I run and exercise, and most importantly, why do I chase after the heart of Christ?

Guilt, obligation and fear often motivate us in the short term but leave us feeling depleted over time. What if we acted “for the joy of it” rather than out of obligation? True joy is a Fruit of the Spirit we can have in abundance, no matter what the circumstance we are in. In Hebrews 12:2 we are called to fix our eyes on Jesus who for the JOY set before him endured the cross.

Together we’ll discover how to develop a “JOY” perspective that motivates us to live life for the joy of it as we fix our eyes on Christ.

Restore, Revitalize, Renew

Every woman – in every phase, age, stage and season of life – is blessed by a process of restoration, revitalization and renewal. 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us that when we are in Christ, we are a new creation. What a message of hope and encouragement as women! We are in the constant process of experiencing restoration, revitalization and renewal in all areas of our lives – starting in our hearts but extending into our circumstances, relationships, attitudes, skill sets, and tolerances.

As I share my heart, my prayer is that the women who hear will walk away equipped to be in process, inspired to be revitalizers, and encouraged to live differently. This message can be a perfect fit for a keynote, conference or retreat setting.

Truth vs. Lies

Who does God say we are? What is God’s truth and what are the lies we speak over ourselves? Ladies, what we believe about ourselves shapes our attitudes, action and our responses. Together let’s discover the truth about who God says we are, replace lies for truth and live in victory!

Forgiveness and Freedom… For the JOY of it

Un-forgiveness is a kind of bondage, isn’t it? We often have a hard time forgiving ourselves and others who have hurt us. This leaves us trapped as victims, in bondage to sin and pain. It doesn’t have to be this way! Christ has given us freedom! Let’s choose to live in that freedom!

Less is More

We all pack “junk” around that we do not want or need. What are you carrying around as you race after the heart of Christ? Come and be challenged to unpack things like greed, coveting and worry from your life. Together we’ll discover how less can be so much more as we dig into Luke 12:13-21.

Mindset… Living with the End in Mind

Do you live with the end in mind? When you have a vision for where you want to go, your mind and spirit instantly begins to create a plan to make your vision a reality. Knowing where you want to go is a critical step in preparing for the finish line of life.

As believers, Christ is our finish line. Hebrews 12:2 reminds us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith. Are you living with this perspective? Together we’ll see what it means to live with the end in mind.

Practice Victory

We already have victory in Christ! Let’s discover how to practice it daily. We can overcome pain, past hurts, failures, and sin. Christ’s power at work in us gives us victory – the victory He died and rose again to share with us. “What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:31-32.

Resolve to Resolve

What does it mean to resolve? The definition is to find a solution to a problem, dispute or contentious matter and to decide firmly on a course of action. You’re not alone. We all have problems, disputes and contentious matters in our lives that we need to deal with. Thankfully, Christ has given us everything we need for victory! Praise Him!

Come discover why it is important to resolve past and present issues in our lives. Look with me at why we often choose to cover up our messes instead of dealing with them and discovering how we can resolve to resolve them in Christ. God’s plan for us is freedom and victory over our problems, disputes and contentious matters. We can resolve to resolve!
